End of the coal dominance era

Just over a dozen years ago, the municipal heating system in Stargard was fully dependent on burning coal in the Municipal Heating Company (PEC). Although this technology provided heat, it carried a burden in the form of high emissions of suspended dusts (PM2.5 and PM10) and sulfur dioxide. The breakthrough came with full utilization of the potential slumbering deep beneath our feet.

G-Term Energy (Geotermia Stargard) – heart of clean energy

The key element of Stargard's change became the activity of G-Term Energy (so-called Geotermia Stargard). Since 2012, this plant has been successively replacing traditional combustion with clean, renewable energy from the Earth's interior. The scale of this undertaking is impressive and backed by hard data:

  • 171 405 000 tons of coal – this much raw material has not been burned in Stargard since 2012 thanks to heat production by G-Term Energy.
  • Smog reduction: Thanks to integration with the municipal network, we systematically relieve PEC from traditional combustion, which directly translates to cleaner skies over the city.
  • Stability 24/7: Unlike wind or sun, geothermal heat is available regardless of weather, constituting the surest pillar of energy security.
Real ecological and social gain

Environmental state improvement in Stargard is not just numbers. It is primarily lower exposure of residents to harmful substances and better quality of life. In 2026, thanks to consistent modernization and betting on RES, Stargard fits into rigorous guidelines of the EU heat decarbonization strategy.
