Heat price components on your bill

Stargard has two producers of municipal district heat, and most of that heat is generated by geothermal energy – a rarity both in Poland and in Europe. Thanks to unique geological conditions and a well-invested, efficiently run geothermal plant, our city not only obtains heat from burning coal but also extracts thermal energy directly from underground. That is why the price of heat distributed in the city is a blend of the two producers' prices. In 2025, 68.4% of the heat sold came from geothermal energy. Residents pay a blended price, weighted by each producer's share of supply, which in 2025 amounted to 106.81 PLN/GJ. According to the report of the President of URE for 2025, the average in Poland was 108.20 PLN/GJ.

Setting tariff prices is a strictly controlled process involving the Energy Regulatory Office (URE). Heat producers cannot set their tariffs on their own.

Heat distribution cost on your bill

District heat is distributed through a network of heating pipes that mostly run beneath the city and sometimes above ground. The municipal heating network is operated by PEC Stargard, which is responsible for 100% of distribution and for its cost.
